ILLUSTRATION WORKSHOP WITH ADOLFO SERRA
Graphic and Narrative Experimentation Workshop: Choreography of Stains
Where do images come from?
Sometimes they appear in a notebook during a trip. Other times they arise from a conversation overheard on a train, a forgotten news item, a stain found by chance, or a texture reminiscent of a landscape.
This workshop is an invitation to explore the languages of illustration through play, observation, and experimentation. For several days, we will work with techniques, materials, mistakes, and accidents as creative tools to discover new ways of constructing images and developing a unique visual voice.
We will use ink, graphite, watercolor, collage, printing, and mixed media to expand our graphic repertoire and explore the expressive possibilities of each material. Through short exercises, observation activities, association games, and narrative prompts, we will learn to transform stains, shapes, textures, and drawings into characters, settings, and stories.
The goal is not to create perfect illustrations, but rather to generate a rich and evocative visual archive that allows us to discover unexpected connections and open new creative paths.
As the workshop concludes, each participant will develop a short proto-story, a visual sequence, or the starting point for a future picture book, using the findings and materials that emerged during the exploration process.
