Watercolor Workshop with Jorge Corpuna.
This workshop with Jorge Corpuna focuses on establishing a solid foundation in watercolor technique, starting with key concepts such as material identification, the composition of the paints, and their application to the canvas through various techniques and landscape approaches.
The wet-on-wet technique will be tested to achieve the effect of depth in the landscape’s atmosphere, among other variations of the technique.
– We will explore the elements that make up the technique (pigments, paper, brushes, and especially water).
– Composition
– Palette selection
– Execution:
We will interpret the natural landscape, taking advantage of the possibilities offered by water, pigment, and paper. A combination of theoretical and practical demonstrations.
We will move from the initial wash to the final landscape. We will paint several very small-format sketches and exercises to explore different washes based on our model. Gradually, we will progress to larger formats.
– Critique and exchange of ideas.
– FIRST DAY
(SATURDAY – Morning 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and afternoon 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM):
We will paint a natural landscape based on a photograph chosen by Jorge Corpuna to understand its characteristics and distribution values when constructing its composition. We will do practical exercises to address any questions or concerns, and then we will paint together.
– SECOND DAY
(SUNDAY – Morning 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM):
We will create a second, more realistic natural landscape, using a photograph chosen by the watercolorist. We will then address any questions or concerns about variations in Corpuna’s technique through several demonstrations. For this, you should bring photographic references of Corpuna’s paintings to ask questions (or show images from Instagram).
