Format: Live classes with demos, exercises, feedback and tutorials. Classes will also be recorded.

ONLINE COURSE: Storyboard with Maca Gil.

Week 1: Presentation. General dynamics of classes, calendar and tasks. The objective is to finish the course with a unique storyboard ready to be put in your portfolio. General summary of what storyboarding is. Types of shots, camera movements, cutting and continuity (180º rule, raccord).

TASK 1: Idea brainstorm. Create 4 or 5 loglines and take one of them into a full script. 1 or 2 pages max.

Week 2: Different phases in a storyboard. How to make your storyboards cinematographic. Visualizing the script and creating compelling compositions. Using different types of lenses, transitions, adding symbolism.

TASK 2: Create the thumbnails for the script you wrote.

Week 3: Drawing for story: the narrative > the drawings. Acting and performance of our characters. Basic perspective rules for storyboarding and how to develop your own shorthand, for drawing efficiently and clearly. How to plan and board dialogue vs action scenes.

TASK 3: First pass, rough storyboard (or animatic).

August 1st. Thursday. 5:30 pm. to 8:30 p.m.
August 6. Tuesday. 5:30 pm. to 8:30 p.m.

August 7. Wednesday. 5:30 pm. to 8:30 p.m.

Week 4: Explaining different types of productions. Editing and pitching your storyboards. How to stand out in the industry. Course conclusions and what skills to sharpen next.

TASK 4: Final pass, final touch ups and advice.

Materials recommended: Any software or material to draw, and then present the drawings sequentially. Assignments can be submitted in PDF, as single images, or as video files. Storyboard Pro is recommended if you’re interested in doing animatics. Otherwise, Photoshop, Procreate or even pen on paper works.

What happens if one day I can’t watch live classes?

• No problem. All classes are live but will also be recorded and published on our platform. So you can see them whenever you want during the duration of the course. This means that if you cannot attend your live class at the stipulated time, you will be able to view them on the platform until the end of the course. These video classes published on the platform can be viewed unlimitedly during the duration of the course but cannot be copied or downloaded. They can also be viewed for 6 months once the course has finished.

When can I watch classes I missed live?

• Access to the virtual platform where you can consult all the information or documentation of the course, access all the classes already taught or the proposed exercises.
