ONLINE WORKSHOP: Introduction to Children Book Illustrations with Domenico Russo.
Duration: 6 weeks. April-May, 2024.

Level: Everyone the level are wellcome.
Format: Live classes with demos, exercises, feedback and tutorials. Classes will also be recorded.
Language during the workshop: English.

ONLINE WORKSHOP: Introduction to Children Book Illustrations with Domenico Russo.
Week 1: Introduction, understanding of class dynamics, setting the schedule and goals. Discussion of creative process, sources of inspiration and references. Selection of a storyline to illustrate.

Week 2: Study of the function of an image and interpretation of the selected storyline. Exploration of character design and settings.
April 25. Thursday. 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
April 29. Monday. 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
April 30. Tuesday. 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Week 3: Analysis of space, shapes and harmony in an illustration. Selection of a key plot moment. Designing the illustration by creating thumbnails and first drafts.
May 2. Thursday. 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
May 6. Monday. 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
May 7. Tuesday. 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Week 4: Study of techniques for guiding the audience’s attention. Analysis of image hierarchy and balance, and study of composition. Development of the draft and refinement of the illustration.
May 9. Thursday. 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
May 13. Monday. 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
May 14. Tuesday. 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Week 5: Study of how to tell a story through the use of light and color. Exploration of various color schemes. Adding and balancing color in illustration.
May 16. Thursday. 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
May 20. Monday. 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
May 21. Tuesday. 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Week 6: Discussion of developing a personal style. Application of final touches to illustration and overall review of work.
May 23. Thursday. 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
May 27. Monday. 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
May 28. Tuesday. 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

What happens if one day I can’t watch live classes?
• No problem. All classes are live but will also be recorded and published on our platform. So you can see them whenever you want during the duration of the course. This means that if you cannot attend your live class at the stipulated time, you will be able to view them on the platform until the end of the course. These video classes published on the platform can be viewed unlimitedly during the duration of the course but cannot be copied or downloaded. They can also be viewed for 6 months once the course has finished.
When can I watch classes I missed live?
• Access to the virtual platform where you can consult all the information or documentation of the course, access all the classes already taught or the proposed exercises.
