ONLINE ILLUSTRATION || Visual Development\/ Background for animation||<\/span> WORKSHOP with Sophie Barocas.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n
If you want to work in Visual Development\/ Background for animation, or you just want to create narrative images, this<\/span>\u00a0workshop is made for you !<\/p>\nI suggest you, for those three days, to create a strong and narrative image for animation with me, based on a brief.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nDay 1 – Story and Composition<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n. Instructor intro : from children book illustrator to matte painter on\u00a0Arcane<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n. Students intro : describe your goals and struggles in painting.<\/span><\/p>\n. We will start talking about how to find inspiration and how to create a moodboard for an animation project.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n. Then, we will see how to make up a simple story of a character in an environment through a drawing demo: how contrast\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nmakes an image interesting and readable.<\/span><\/p>\nHomework (during or between the sessions): create a thumbnail in grey values like a lightboard\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/p>\nDay 2 – Mood and style\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n. I will start with some character\/ environment design tips in a 2D rendering.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n. Then, I\u2019ll teach you to choose a color palette and lighting to create a mood!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n. I\u2019ll talk about painting techniques, and how gouache plein air practice will help you to learn to synthesize real life.<\/span><\/p>\n. We will make a color thumbnail together. Questions are welcome !\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nHomework : put flat colors on your thumbnail like a colorscript<\/i><\/span><\/p>\nDay 3 – Believable scene<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n. On this last day, I will explain how to make the scene believable thanks to depth and realistic materials.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n. I will finish my painting demo showing how to push contrasts and details to make the subject stand out.<\/span><\/p>\n. The students will push their own painting as much as they like, and I will give them feedback during the session or afterwards.<\/span><\/p>\n. The last hour : portfolio review\/ Q&A on the animation industry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nRecommended materials<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n. Laptop and tablet<\/span><\/p>\n. Photoshop, Procreate or similar painting software.<\/span><\/p>\nBefore the course:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nStudents can write down their goals and struggles, and send me their portfolio the first day to have feedback at the end, if they want to.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

*Frequent questions:<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\nWhat happens if I can’t see the classes live one day?<\/p>\n
\u2022 No problem. All classes are live but will also be recorded and posted on our platform. So you can see them whenever you want throughout the duration of the course. This means that if you cannot attend your class live at the stipulated time, you will be able to see them on the platform until the end of the course. These video-classes, 1080p, posted on the platform can be viewed unlimitedly during the duration of the course but cannot be copied or downloaded. Class recorded can also be viewed for 6 months\u00a0 once the course is over.<\/strong><\/p>\nWhen can I see the classes I did not attend live?<\/p>\n
