SCHEDULE<\/strong>: Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
\nSaturday and Sunday. 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

ILLUSTRATION WORKSHOP with Eliza Ivanova.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the students to get some insight into my creative process and how to tackle a story and visualize it. We will work with real model poses either from life or reference photos.<\/span><\/p>\n

We will also spend time learning how to be aware of, and trust your artists\u2019 instincts. You will be interacting with a variety of personas while on your journey as an artist. This will require you to develop a positive sense of self and your work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Goals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Each student will create an illustration from scratch.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. They will get notes from me on how to improve their piece.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. They will learn how to effectively implement the feedback and improve their storytelling and illustration skills.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    DAY1<\/b><\/p>\n

    Background Information about me and my career in the animation industry and as a freelancer<\/span><\/p>\n

    Segue into commission work- how I stumbled into illustration and concept art* alongside fine art and my own books<\/span><\/p>\n

    Being in the movie industry, I was very much interested in storytelling which led me to do illustrative work<\/span><\/p>\n

    We will talk about:<\/span><\/p>\n

    Research about your illustration\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Gathering references<\/span><\/p>\n

    Making your own references<\/span><\/p>\n

    Explaining about pencil and digital and how to combine for speed<\/span><\/p>\n

    Demo a quick paint over a pencil sketch in Procreate<\/span><\/p>\n

    Questions during demo<\/b><\/p>\n

    Stop<\/b><\/p>\n

    Homework- do a quick color pass of a traditional medium sketch<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    DAY2<\/b><\/p>\n

    Homework review- what was easy\/ what was\u00a0 challenging<\/span>
    \n<\/span>Any conclusions?<\/span>
    \n<\/b>Talk about anatomy (<\/span>from life drawing)<\/span><\/p>\n

    Combining model with props and environment<\/span><\/p>\n

    Stylization of shapes, lighting<\/span><\/p>\n

    Design within a story-based illustration<\/span><\/p>\n

    Color – either digital or traditional<\/span><\/p>\n

    Demo of combining a model pose with props and environment- coming up with a story on the spot<\/span><\/p>\n

    Questions<\/b><\/p>\n

    Stop<\/b><\/p>\n

    Homework- begin an illustration: come up with a story based on a model pose<\/span><\/p>\n

    Review homework- discuss clarity, how interesting\/dynamic the piece is, does it illustrate the story well, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Refining the illustration piece- address notes, do revisions<\/span><\/p>\n

    Solving problems and critical thinking, taking creative risks<\/span><\/p>\n

    Getting feedback from me and peers- ask many questions here<\/span><\/p>\n

    Continue demo and go around and help<\/span><\/p>\n
