\nI\u2019m an illustrator interested in children\u2019s books, magazines and more.
\nFor this workshop I thought it would be awesome to create a mock
\ncover page from ones imagination.
\n* I\u2019ll be drawing with you guys, and sharing my process from start to
\nfinish as if I\u2019d be working on an actual cover.
\n* Please note that all questions are welcome!
\nDay 1<\/strong>
\nIntroduction: My art journey, obstacles, and now!
\nIntroduction to Children\u2019s Illustration: Portfolio requirements, visual
\ndevelopment, and where to start.
\nProject Introduction: Ideation, and Narrative
\nVisual Development: Characters [Narrative, Shape Exploration,
\nExpression], Props, Environment, etc.<\/p>\n

Day 2<\/strong>
\nIntroduction to Composition: Putting your prep work together to
\ncreate a composition. [Ideation sketches, perspective tips, angle tips,
\nleading the eye, and more!]
\nUnderstanding Cover Specs: Bleed, margins, text, what to do and
\nwhat to watch out for when designing a cover.
\nBuilding Your Chosen Composition: Line work, details, storytelling,
\nplacing your character, finalizing your lined illustration
\nIntroduction to Choosing your Colours: Choosing a colour palette
\nthat suits what you\u2019re trying to evoke, Analogous V.S Complimentary
\ncolours, and priming colours.
\nBase Colours: Applying your base colours, applying light and
\nshadows and proper tonal values.
\nFinalizing your base: Cleaning up for the rendering.
\nDay 3<\/strong><\/p>\n

Introduction to Rendering: Understanding brushes, textures and
\npatterns. [I\u2019ll show you how to create your own brush on Procreate].
\nBase Rendering: Cleaning, Layer Styles, Gradients, and Scribbles.
\nFinal Rendering: Applying textures, patterns and final touches!
\nAdding the Title: How to place a title, or create a title for your cover.
\n* This process will take a long time, but at this point you will have a
\ngood amount of visual development for your portfolio, a beautiful
\nselection of sketches, a finished illustration, or a wonderful mock
\ncover page that you can include in your portfolio.
\n* I will answer any question during these sessions, so don\u2019t be shy to
\nask. If you\u2019re too shy to speak out loud, you can email me and I will
\nanswer before and after the workshop.
\n* I will be looking at everyone\u2019s work before and after workshop hours
\nand will communicate feedback through email.<\/p>\n

\nA tablet (iPad, Wacom, or any other drawing tablet)

\nA sketchbook, a good quality paper of choice, and your choice of
\ntraditional media! *You will need a light coloured marker, or

What happens if I can’t see the classes live one day?<\/p>\n

\u2022 No problem. All classes are live but will also be recorded and posted on our platform. So you can see them whenever you want throughout the duration of the course. This means that if you cannot attend your class live at the stipulated time, you will be able to see them on the platform until the end of the course. These video-classes posted on the platform can be viewed unlimitedly during the duration of the course but cannot be copied or downloaded. They can also be viewed for 20 days once the course is over.<\/p>\n

When can I see the classes I did not attend live?<\/p>\n
