ONLINE  WORKSHOP WITH JOSEPH FEINSILVER

A three-day workshop with Joseph Feinsilver

Students will  focus on the concept and design of a vis dev piece based on a generic movie idea.
The point will be to focus on the process and not necessarily finish the image to allow for different styles and skill levels.
This piece will replicate early inspirational art for the development process of making a film.
Students will take the designated scene with a loose style guide and bring the world of our generic movie to life.

A good understanding of the fundamentals of art is recommended.

Day 1

Usually, the project starts with character designs so we start with naturalistic characters with room to push the design.
We will start with analyzing the scene, how we want to portray our characters, environment and mood to best tell the story. Who are our characters, what are their costumes, what is the point of this scene. Choosing the environment and props that will help tell our story.
Studying our style guide and finding more in-depth research.  Narrowing our research based on our analysis of how to best tell this story.

Starting rough sketches. Keeping the freedom of thought, allowing us to try the impossible and working from our reference. Focusing on the big ideas.
Introducing lighting and color to help support the composition and story.

Questions

Day 2

In Depth review of work so far

Are we telling the story?

Making adjustments

Finding the clear story to tell

Adjusting our lighting and color

When to start finishing. Taking a step back and asking yourself does this look good? How can I push this even more?

This means that if you cannot attend your class live at the stipulated time, you will be able to see them on the platform until the end of the course. These video-classes posted on the platform can be viewed unlimitedly during the duration of the course but cannot be copied or downloaded. They can also be viewed for 6 months once the course is over.

When can I see the classes I did not attend live?

• 24-hour access to the virtual platform where you can consult all the information or documentation of the course, access all the classes that have already been taught or the proposed exercises. When, where and at the rate you want.
