ONLINE WORKSHOP with Sarah Conradsen.

Content 

I’m an illustrator who primarily works with childrens books and more recently also with comic books. In this workshop I’ll be focusing on character driven illustration and the use of colour to inform your designs. I’ll take you through my process from the idea/research state, through thumbnail, sketching, clean up and finally colour and rendering. 

Day 1 

Introduction to my art journey and how I got to where I am today. 

Then I’ll talk about what we’ll be doing during the days we have together. 

First part of my design process: We’ll be talking about creating a moodboard, doing research and then start creating thumbnails and rough sketches, based on a chosen idea.

Day 2 

On our second day we’ll be finalising the chosen sketch, talking about composition, character shapes, variety and then move onto the first stage of colouring, by doing colour thumbnails to find the best tone for the final image

Day 3 

On the third day we’ll colour and render the image and then finish off with questions and tips. 

NOTE; By all means ask questions at any time during the three days. 

Recommended material 

I recommend that you use a drawing tablet, this can be Ipad, Wacom or any other tablet of your choice. It’s also perfectly fine to use traditional media.I’ll be working in Photoshop.
