Description
This workshop will explore some of my favourite tools for adding subtle narrative to illustrations; colour, light, and texture. By focusing on how these elements can convey mood, character traits, and depth to an illustration, participants will learn how to create their own textures and choose colours and lighting schemes that work with their goals rather than against. We’ll go over how I source inspiration, make colour choices, create colour comps for a new illustration together and experiment with several different lighting types and directions. We will also go over some easy ways to create our own textures using a mixture of digital and brush techniques, that bring illustrations from flat digital pieces to full of life.

Day 2
Rough Compositions, leading lines and shape language, how to frame characters for impact and planning ahead for lighting and colour
Working that up, finalizing sketch/compositions
Final rough pass before colour – clean linework and base fills/flats
Rendering Day
Brush tips, textures, adjustment layers
Soft vs Hard edges when it comes to light and shadow
Adding texture (we will create our own textures)
Adjusting final values and creating more contrast, punching it up!*I will be answering questions during each day, if you have additional questions you would like me to go over, you can email them to me in advance or at the end of each day so we can address them the following day
*Will be happy to provide feedback on everyones final pieces

*Frequent questions:
What happens if I can’t see the classes live one day?
• No problem. All classes are live but will also be recorded and posted on our platform. So you can see them whenever you want throughout the duration of the course. This means that if you cannot attend your class live at the stipulated time, you will be able to see them on the platform until the end of the course. These video-classes posted on the platform can be viewed unlimitedly during the duration of the course but cannot be copied or downloaded. They can also be viewed for 6 months once the course is over.
When can I see the classes I did not attend live?
• Access to the virtual platform where you can consult all the information or documentation of the course, access all the classes that have already been taught or the proposed exercises. When, where and at the rate you want.
